A Mystery Worth Solving (There’s a little Sherlock Holmes in all of us)

Not to worry. I believe you’ll find it rather “Elementary” after reading all the hints below:

WHO: They are the nation’s oldest and largest one-to-one mentoring organization.

WHAT: Their mission is to enhance the lives of children by providing positive adult role models who offer hope, skills, encouragement and friendship that empower children to change their lives.

WHERE: This can be accomplished by committing 4 hours a month to a child, meeting with them at school or in the community.

WHEN: How about right now?

WHY: Statistics show that children who are mentored are: 46% less likely to start using drugs, 27% less likely to start drinking, 52% less likely to skip school, 33% less likely to hit someone and generally more trusting of their parents or guardian.

The benefits of mentoring are immeasurable. A child’s self-esteem increases when an adult friend genuinely cares. His or her future is broadened by a role model who can be a guide to life’s opportunities and around life’s obstacles. For our children, the obstacles are very real. Imagine how it would feel knowing that someone is in your corner. It can make all the difference in the world to a child.

The Silent Auction Fundraiser ended on August 14th and we would like to thank everyone who participated. Congratulations to those who purchased items. We hope everyone had fun and we look forward to doing this again next year.
